Excerpt from Chapter 5 – “Moral Guidance and Thoughts on Debt”

Bankruptcy – We Wrote the Book on It By Ronald C. Sykstus and the Bond and Botes Team of Lawyers

Excerpt from Chapter 5 – “Moral Guidance and Thoughts on Debt”:

By now, you should have picked up from this book the fact that no
one files for bankruptcy lightly. It is a tough, stressful, and worry-laden
decision. By the time people come to see us, they have already had a
great deal of stress, worry, sleepless nights, and consternation over their
debts, not to mention the collection calls, letters, lawsuits, foreclosure
letters, etc. We always approach every client with the mind-set that
each person wants to pay their debts, if at all possible. Quite frankly,
this is a good situation for a prospective client of ours to actually file
a Chapter 13 bankruptcy plan, which would allow that person to
pay their debts either in full or in part, whatever they can do, while
still being able to provide for themselves and their families. From a
moral perspective, everyone has to wrestle and deal with their own
views individually. In this light, attorney O. Max Gardner, a nationally
known and highly regarded consumer bankruptcy expert from North
Carolina, has written an illustrative article on bankruptcy and the
Bible. It may be of some benefit to the reader here.
